Service reminder and coupon texts for local shops

A texting tool for a local shop. It reminds customers when service is due, and lets you send a coupon text to the customers you choose. Nothing goes out until you approve it, and it follows common texting rules.

Hi Dana! Your car's due for an oil change. Call or reply to book. –Your Shop

Reply STOP to opt out

Example only: a sticker and the kind of text a customer gets. Your shop writes its own wording.

Customers forget the sticker. They do not miss a text. A friendly reminder goes out when they are due, so they come back to you.

What you do

  1. Reminders

Open the due list. It shows everyone whose service is due or overdue and the exact text each person would get. Tick the ones you want, review them, then approve and send.

  2. Coupon texts

Write your message, choose who gets it (everyone, customers who have not been in for a set number of days, or one type of service) and preview it. The preview lists every recipient, and who matched but cannot be texted and why. A blast over your set limit is refused.

  3. Customers

Import a customer list from a CSV file. Rows with problems are listed by row number and skipped, and importing the same file twice changes nothing.

Texting rules it enforces

  • Only people with a recorded opt-in get texts: the date, how they agreed and the exact wording are stored.
  • STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END and QUIT opt a number out immediately, and an opted-out number is not texted again.
  • Every text names your business and says to reply STOP to opt out. HELP gets a reply with your business name and contact details.
  • No texts outside 9am to 8pm in the customer's time zone, and at most one reminder text per customer per day.
  • Every text, opt-in, opt-out, import and approval is written to a log that cannot be edited, and you can export it.
  • Texts are checked again at the moment they are sent, so someone who replies STOP after you approved is not texted.

The rules are covered by automated tests. This is software that enforces common texting rules. It is not legal advice, and you stay responsible for having consent and for what your messages say.

How reminders are timed

A service is due on the earlier of a number of days or an estimated number of miles after the last visit. You get one reminder per service per due date, and one follow-up if the service has not been done. Customers who are overdue for a long time are left for a coupon text instead of a reminder.

Before the first real text

US carriers require a business to register before it texts customers from a regular business number. This is called A2P 10DLC registration, and approval can take days to weeks. Until then the tool only writes texts to a file and sends nothing, so you can see exactly what would go out.

What it does not cover

  • It cannot tell a mobile number from a landline, so texts to landlines fail at the provider.
  • It stores the consent you collect. It does not collect consent for you.
  • Some states have stricter rules than 9am to 8pm. You can narrow the hours.

For oil change, auto repair and tire shops around Metro Detroit

It is made for the shop that sees the same customers every few months and wants them to come back on time. We set it up for your shop and host it: $169 to start, then your monthly plan. We can also hand over the software and your data if you would rather run it yourself.

*Refund applies when the delay is on our side or the phone carrier's. Shop details are due within 14 days of signing.
